TEACHING & LEARNING
QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications on offer

  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA)

  • Level 4 Certificate in Assuring Quality of Assessment (IQA)

  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET)

Who are these qualifications for?

These three qualifications are fundamental to anyone working in the delivery of teaching, training and assessment within the workbased learning sector - e.g. stand-alone qualifications, apprenticeships, NVQs, Diplomas, Certificates etc.. The CAVA qualification is testament to your ability to assess, the IQA qualification is critical to quality assuring assessment, and the AET is an extremely useful tool for adding credibility to your teaching and training background.

What will I learn?

This very much depends on your current experience, as we will tailor your learning to match your circumstances. Everyone has their own unique starting point. CAVA teaches you how to plan and deliver assessment using a range of methods and situations. You'll gain an appreciation of the role of the assessor and how it fits into your employer's operation as well as the overall learning and development profession. The IQA qualification will teach you about the importance of quality assuring assessment, how to ensure compliance with stakeholder requirements, and how to plan quality assurance activities. You'll gain an appreciation of assessor standardisation activities, how to sample assessment according to need, and how to play a productive role in the continuous improvement agenda for your organisation. AET will teach you about your role and responsibilities in education and training, and ensure you gain a good grasp of the principles and practices of assessment (if you don't already hold a qualification in this respect). You'll learn how to facilitate learning for groups or individuals (depending on your role) and you'll put your skills to the test by preparing and delivering a micro-teach session on a topic of your choice.

How long does it take?

This is largely up to you and your circumstances. However, most people complete within three to six months. We'll agree an appropriate timeframe and encourage you to meet the deadlines you set.

What will it cost?

The costs vary based on your choice of qualification. All costs include registration and certification:

  • CAVA - £450

  • IQA - £450

  • Lead IQA (for those managing IQA activity) - £550

  • £600 AET - £650
